BRICKS:
A small rectangular block typically made of dried or sun-dried clay used in construction.
A brick is rectangular in shape and of size that can be conveniently handled with one hand.
Brick may be made of burnt clay or mixture of sand and lime of portland cement concrete.
Clay bricks are commonly used since these are economical and easily available.
Size of brick:
1. Standard size - 19cmx19cmx20cm
2. Normal size or size of brick along with mortar - 20cmx10cmx10cm
3. Conventional size of brick - 22.4cm x 11.4cm x 7.6cm
weight of 1m3 bricks= 1800 kg
weight of 1 brick = 3.5 to 3.6 kg
specific gravity - 2
Number of bricks 1m3= 500( brick masonry)
Frog in bricks:
An indented mark 1-2 cm mortar.
Size- 10 x 4 x 1cm
It forms a KEY for holding the mortar.
Laid in top of the bricks
Not provided in 4 cm high bricks and extruded bricks.
